Members of the Azerbaijan Library and Information Consortium had study tour in Lithuania funded by the Open Society Institute - Assistance Foundation East East Program. A goal of the visit was to learn experience of Lithuanian Research Library Consortium. During the visit, Azerbaijani librarians attended number of workshops organized by their Lithuanian colleagues, covering such issues as “Library Consortium Building, Negotiation, Copyright and Licensing”, “Fund-raising for database subscription; dividing payments between the libraries”, ”Promoting e-resources to academic community”.
More than ten academic libraries were visited within the project, including Vilnius University Library, Lithuanian Technical Library, Kaunas University of Technology Library, Martynas Mazvydas National Library of Lithuania

A Memorandum of understanding is signed between Azerbaijan Library and
Information Consortium and Georgian Integrated Library and Information
System Consortium in Tbilisi, Georgia on July 8th, 2004.

A presentation on Azerbaijan Library and Information Consortium activities
and services was conducted on U.S. Department of State Edmund S. Muskie/Freedom
Support Graduate Program Alumni Conference.

A presentation on consortium activities and services was conducted for
representatives of 10 regional libraries, which was organized by the US
Embassy in Azerbaijan within Regional Library Project.

Training on EBSCO Resources and Search Skills was conducted for representatives
of different academic libraries.
20 February, 2004
Azerbaijan Library and Information Consortium (AzLIC) launched at Baku
State University. The Consortium founded by Baku State University, Azerbaijan
Medical University and Khazar University. Azerbaijan Library and Information
Consortium will operate within allocated grant of the Open Society Institute
eIFL.net project.
The aims of the Consortium are to provide access to available electronic
resources, which is essential in education and research and has a direct
impact on the development of society, conduct trainings and strengthen
local electronic resources. Azerbaijan Library and Information Consortium
is a member of international consortium –eIFL.net, operating in about
48 countries of the world.
Members of the Azerbaijan Library and Information Consortium can join
to eIFL.net projects to get access to such online resources as over 6,
000 titles of 10 EBSCO online databases, menu of journals and databases
of over 2, 300 titles in total by American Physical Society, Blackwell
Publishing, Cambridge University Press, HighWire Press, Institute of Physics
Publishing, ProQuest and etc.

A meeting with the representatives of over 25 academic libraries was organized
to present Azerbaijan Library and Information Consortium activities and
services.
